It’s almost here!

What is a poker run and how does it work?

A poker run is a type of event in which participants need to visit five checkpoints, where they draw a playing card. The object is to have the best poker hand when the run is complete—the winner is completely based on chance.

This event is hosted by the Lincoln County Wyoming Republican Party!  

WHEN:  JULY 18, 2026

WHERE:  ALPINE CIVIC CENTER, ALPINE WYOMING  

TIME:  REGISTRATION 8AM-9:45AM - ROLL OUT 10AM

COST:  $40.00 PER VEHICLE ENTERED

Once participants have registered, paid the $40.00 registration fee (per vehicle) and signed the required waiver for each participant (yes, even the passengers need to sign the waiver), then each vehicle driver will be given 5 tickets to be exchanged for a playing card at each of the 5 checkpoints. The best poker hand at the end wins! It’s not a race—it’s an experience. We know some people are hesitant to participate in poker runs, because the name might make it sound like you’re on a race. While the event usually does have a time limit, individual participants will not be timed.

Each participant will be provided with the locations of these checkpoints and a map to help them find their way.

We will make sure each checkpoint has volunteers. In addition to handing out cards, volunteers might also have snacks, water or other items to hand out to participants who pass by their area.  It is also a great opportunity to engage with others out on a ride with family and friends and tell them about LCWYGOP and even register new voters.  This is an event that can be done on ATV's, UTV Side-by-Side's, Off-road SUV's, Trucks, Dirt bikes, Street automobiles, and Street motorcycles. 

Think of it as more of an organized "FUN" ride or event than an actual race!

You’re under no rush to finish first, especially when you consider the quality of your hand will be entirely based on the luck of the draw.

This is all about gathering together as a group, getting out and exploring some the great sights of Lincoln County with friends. It’s common for people to come from all over to poker runs, so many participants will be exploring the area’s countryside for the very first time! What a great way to connect with new people!
